Hantuchova, Radwanska lock horns in San Diego SF
SAN DIEGO: Fifth seed Flavia Pennetta of Italy set up a semi final clash with two times grand slam winner, Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia when she defeated an injured Samantha Stosur of Australia by 6-4 6-3 in the quarter-finals of the San Diego Classic late Friday.

Svetlana Kuznetsova diminished the hopes of American teenager Coco Vandeweghe after surviving the first set and then blowing her away by 7-5 6-2.
Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland outplayed Shahar Peer by 6-2 6-0 to lock horns with Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia who got the better of Russian Kleybanova by 2-6 6-4 6-3.

Pennetta who has played 51 matches this year, the most by any player, seemed to have found her champion touch and told reporters after the match, “If I stay doing the same things against her then it’s better for me”.
“I played backhands down the line deep and I can return her kick serve really well. I have a few shots that make her very nervous all the time”, she added.

As mentioned above, Samantha Stosur was disturbed by a muscle injury which she said in the post match press conference that it has bothered here in the Stanford Classic and led her to see a doctor after the match. She said, “It’s like a really strong, heavy ache when it starts and I can’t get rid of it until I get off the court”.
“I can’t work out what’s going on. It hurts every time when I get on court. If I’m going to go on court I want to play the best I can, and maybe now I can’t. It can start to wear you down a little”, she added.
