Zvonareva defeats Clijsters in Quarter Final

LONDON: 21st seeded Vera Zvonareva of Russia beat the veteran Belgium player Kim Clijsters in evenly contested match by 2-1 and moved into the semi finals of the 2010 Wimbledon Championship.

Kim Clijsters was struggling in the match after winning the first set by 6-3 in 38 minutes. Russian tennis star Vera Zvonareva cameback strongly in the second set and won the set by 6-4 in 36 minutes. Vera carried her rhythm and momentum to the third and final set and won the third set and match by 6-2 in just 34 minutes. The final score was 3-6, 6-4 and 6-2 in favour of Vera Zvonareva. The match was lasted for about 108 minutes.

Zvonareva hit three aces with two double faults and 19 unforced errors. On the other hand Clijsters was struggling in the second and third set and she hit only two aces with four double faults and massive 36 unforced errors. Vera Zvonareva will face Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria in the semi finals of the 2010 Wimbledon Championship.
