Andy Murray joins the adidas tennis family.

Andy Murrray has joined the adidas tennis line-up. The 22-year-old Briton leaves Fred Perry to sport the iconic 3-Stripes beginning January 2010. Perhaps the traditional line was just that, too traditional looking for him. In all likelihood, however, it was money that made the decision. Hey maybe he’ll grow out the hair and sideburns again. Venus and Serena Williams both played their third-round matches at the Mutua Madrilena Madrid Open on Wednesday, but with different outcomes.

The fourth-seeded Venus lost the first set against seed No.15 Francesca Schiavone, but was dominant in the remainder of the match to win 3-6 6-1 6-2.

Nikolay Davydenko Wins ATP World Finals and Ends Contract with Airness.

Nikolay Davydenko defeated Juan Martin del Potro yesterday to win the 2009 ATP World Tour Finals, the first Russian in history to win the event.  This tournament, according to his agent, also marks the end of Davydenko’s contract with French apparel maker Airness. Many have sought the brand but few can find it (especially tennis) as it is not available in the U.S. or anywhere online as far as this editor can see.

Elena Dementieva wins in Paris, Vera Zvonareva in Pattaya City

Two Russians took the two tournaments that finished this weekend: Elena Dementieva won the Open GDF SUEZ in her ninth attempt, and Vera Zvanareva successfully defended her PTT Pattaya Open title.

Dementieva, top-seed and last year’s finalist in Paris, recovered from losing the first set to beat Czech Lucie Safarova 6-7(5) 6-1 6-4 and finally win the indoor event in the capital of France.

Russian Anastasia Pavlychenkova claimed her maiden Sony Ericsson WTA Tour title by beating Slovakian second seed Daniela Hantuchova in the final of the Monterrey Open in Mexico.
